Northern Limestone Alps

This is an original and unspoilt landscape, largely untouched by civilization. Bizarre limestone reefs, rugged rock walls and picturesque mountain lakes dating from the last ice age please the eye and refresh the soul. In the Northern Limestone Alps the tree line is lower than in the Central Alps and so are most of the footpaths and hiking trails. Good planning is nonetheless essential as weather can change quickly in the mountains.
